Nvidia CEO Visits South Korea for Second Time in Seven Months

Nvidia's chief executive arrived in Seoul on Friday for his second visit in seven months. The schedule includes boardroom meetings and a television appearance. South Korea's semiconductor exports rose nearly 170 percent in May to a record level, contributing to the country's strongest export growth in more than four decades.

Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix each reached $1 trillion in market value last month.

An analyst at KB Securities noted that the company's dependence on the country has deepened. The benchmark Kospi index has nearly doubled this year amid the gains in chip stocks.

The analyst wrote that the country's large-scale production infrastructure makes it a potential testbed for commercial AI uses. Shares of LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics rose earlier in the week after reports of the planned visit. A website tracking the itinerary recorded more than 90,000 views by Friday afternoon local time.
