Obama Presidential Center Grand Opening Scheduled for June 18 in Chicago

The Obama Presidential Center will hold its grand opening ceremony on June 18 at noon ET in Chicago's South Side. The event is scheduled to feature performances by Christina Aguilera, Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Hudson, John Legend, U2's Bono and the Edge, Eddie Vedder, and Bruce Springsteen. The ceremony will be livestreamed.

Com reported. The complex sits on a 20-acre campus, CBC reported. It houses a museum, library, and athletic arena that includes an NBA-regulation court.

The campus also includes a public library branch, a fruit and vegetable garden, and a playground. As many as 1 million visitors are expected each year, CBC reported. The center does not include a National Archives and Records Administration facility, CBC reported.

U.S. President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama appeared together at a stakeholders event at the center on a Tuesday in Chicago, the Associated Press reported. com reported.

'" Much of the president's focus this summer has been on Freedom 250 programming commemorating the country's 250th birthday. That programming included a White House-hosted Freedom 250 UFC event on his 80th birthday Sunday. Fighter Josh Hokit used his post-bout interview at the event to disparage Michelle Obama.

Several performers cancelled appearances at the Great American State Fair, another anniversary event scheduled to run from June 25 to July 10. Bret Michaels, the Commodores, Fab Morvan of Milli Vanilli, Young MC, and Martina McBride withdrew after learning of its connection to Trump. Flo Rida and Vanilla Ice remain the only scheduled performers out of nine originally booked.

The America's Block Party concert on July 4 will feature the Smashing Pumpkins, Queen Latifah, and Chris Stapleton.
