Odell Beckham Jr. said he knows a roster spot is not guaranteed during his second stint with the New York Giants. "I like it this way," Beckham said Wednesday after his third practice since signing. " The 33-year-old wide receiver lined up with the first-team offense during live drills.

On one play he ran a route across the middle but was not targeted. Three plays later he was targeted deep down the right sideline but could not secure the pass.

Practice and roster context Beckham is one of several wide receivers added this week. JuJu Smith-Schuster and Braxton Berrios also signed Monday. Malik Nabers remains sidelined with a knee injury, Darius Slayton is out with a core-muscle issue, and Gunner Olszewski is lost for the season with an Achilles injury.

New coach John Harbaugh said the veterans will compete for roles like everyone else. "Coach and I talked about it," Beckham said.
