The Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the San Antonio Spurs in Game 5 to take a 3-2 lead in the Western Conference finals. The series returns to San Antonio for Game 6 on May 28 at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBC. The Thunder won Game 5 without Jalen Williams and Ajay Mitchell. Role players contributed to the victory, according to the report.

Gilgeous-Alexander averaged 26.2 points on 38.8 percent shooting across the first five games. He recorded 8.2 assists per game in the playoffs and 9.8 assists per game in the conference finals. Alex Caruso has been noted as a key contributor in the series so far.

Wembanyama scored on 15 shots in Game 5.

Spurs coach Mitch Johnson said Wembanyama needs to take more shots and score more than 20 points. Oklahoma City shot 49 percent with Wembanyama on the court in Game 5. The Spurs won Games 1 and 4 behind 41-point and 33-point performances from Wembanyama.

The Thunder have won six of their previous seven Game 5s in tied 2-2 series. The Spurs have won one of their previous nine Game 5 losses in such series.
