Olivia Tops Girls' Names, Muhammad Leads Boys' List for 2025 in England and Wales
The Office for National Statistics released its annual baby names data on 9 July 2026. Olivia held the top position for girls for the fourth straight year and Muhammad remained first for boys for the third consecutive year.

The Office for National Statistics released its annual list of the most popular baby names for births registered in England and Wales during 2025. Olivia remained the most common name for girls for the fourth year in a row. Muhammad held the top spot for boys for the third consecutive year.
Lily rose to second place among girls' names. Amelia fell from second to third. Noah stayed second for boys while Leo moved into third. Isla ranked fourth for girls, followed by Florence, Freya, Poppy, Elsie and Ivy.
Isabella entered the top ten for the first time. Luca placed fourth among boys' names. Arthur, Oliver, George, Oscar, Theodore and Freddie completed the top ten. The data drew from full-year birth registration records compiled by the Office for National Statistics.
Ada climbed 54 places to 45th among girls. Roman rose 33 places to 27th among boys. Olivia led the monthly rankings for eight months while Muhammad topped the boys' list every month. Ellie, Amelie and Jessica dropped out of the girls' top 100.
Grayson, Brody and Bodhi left the boys' top 100.
