The University of Georgia announced on Tuesday that it hired an associate head coach for its gymnastics program, reuniting a married couple at the helm of the nine-time NCAA champion team beginning with the 2027 season. The university's current head coach will work alongside her husband, who has coached alongside her at elite levels for years.

The pair previously guided multiple top American gymnasts, including several Olympic medalists, while working at gyms in Texas. Both coaches competed for the French national team during their athletic careers. One represented France at the 1996 Olympic Games.

The couple relocated to the United States in 2004 and began coaching at the World Olympic Gymnastics Academy, where they worked with Olympic champions and other elite athletes. Later they moved to lead the elite program at the World Champions Centre.

There they coached an athlete to six Olympic medals and 16 world championship medals between 2018 and 2024. During that period the coaches also worked with more than 13 national team members and became leading figures in the U.S. elite women's program.

The coaches were inducted into the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 2023. One received the national Coach of the Year award in both 2022 and 2023.

The current head coach took over the Georgia program in 2024 when it had been struggling. Working with a former co-head coach, the team returned to prominence. The GymDogs reached the NCAA National Championship Semifinals for the first time in seven seasons and ended the 2026 season ranked No.

6 in the country. That ranking marked the program's best finish since 2016. The team features a young roster and strong incoming recruits. University officials stated the program has limitless potential. The incoming associate head coach said in a statement that he looked forward to helping the program reach greater heights while supporting student-athletes in their athletic and personal development.

The Georgia gymnastics program is one of the fastest-rising contenders in NCAA women's gymnastics following its recent resurgence.
