OpenAI launched a personal finance feature in preview for ChatGPT Pro subscribers in the United States. The tools let users connect bank, credit card and investment accounts through Plaid and view spending, investments and upcoming payments in one dashboard.
pymnts.comOpenAI launched a new set of personal finance tools in preview for ChatGPT Pro subscribers in the United States on Friday. The feature lets users connect accounts at more than 12,000 financial institutions, including Schwab, Fidelity, Chase, Robinhood, American Express and Capital One.
Once linked, users see a dashboard showing portfolio performance, spending categories, subscriptions and upcoming payments.
OpenAI partnered with Plaid to handle secure account connections. Users can also add details such as savings targets or personal loans for more tailored analysis. The company said it plans to add Intuit integration later, which would allow users to examine tax effects from stock sales or estimate credit approval odds.
Pro users reach the tools by selecting “Get started” in the Finances sidebar option or by typing “@Finances, connect my accounts” in a conversation. The chatbot then guides them through the Plaid linking process. Users can disconnect accounts at any time through Settings
“Apps”
“Finances. Synced data is removed from ChatGPT within 30 days after disconnection, and users can also view or delete stored financial memories.”
The launch follows OpenAI’s April acquisition of the team behind personal finance startup Hiro. The company said the team’s expertise helped shape the new tools but did not state whether the entire feature was built by them. More than 200 million users already ask financial questions to ChatGPT each month, according to OpenAI.
The company worked with finance experts to create benchmarks that improve the model’s handling of personal finance queries. OpenAI said the tools are currently available on web and iOS for Pro subscribers. The company plans to expand access gradually after collecting early user feedback and evaluating performance before offering the feature to Plus users.
