Oriva Therapeutics Appoints Dr Agnès Arbat as CEO and Chief Medical Officer
The Barcelona-based women's health company announced the appointment on June 11, 2026. Dr Arbat will also serve as Chief Medical Officer while the firm advances a Phase I endometriosis therapy.
manilatimes.netOriva Therapeutics appointed Dr Agnès Arbat as Chief Executive Officer on June 11, 2026. She will also serve as Chief Medical Officer at the Barcelona-based company. Dr Arbat brings more than 25 years of pharmaceutical industry experience.
She has played a central role in over 20 clinical studies in women's health and contributed to the launch of more than 10 products, including Nexplanon, Xarelto and Ventavis. She previously co-founded and led Oxolife, a biotech focused on female fertility.
Earlier roles include leading the Women's Health and Cardiovascular medical team at Bayer and working in Medical Affairs for Women's Health at Organon.
"Oriva's assets have the potential to deliver best-in-class treatments for women worldwide suffering from common, painful and debilitating gynaecological conditions - thus addressing clear and significant unmet medical needs," Dr Arbat said. " Dr Arbat joins a leadership team that includes Cristina Balagué, PhD, Chief Scientific Officer; Rosa Torres Ferraz, PhD, Head of Medical Affairs & Regulatory; Ljudmila Katchan, PhD, Head of Operations; and Marta Llorens, Head of Clinical Operations.
Roger Juanpere oversees financial strategy as Financial Manager.
Oriva was founded earlier this year with support from Asabys Partners' Sabadell Asabys II fund. The company is developing first-in-class and best-in-class medicines for chronic gynaecological diseases and is advancing a clinical-stage pipeline that includes two advanced assets.
Its lead asset, ORV-362, is a non-hormonal, disease-modifying therapy for endometriosis already in Phase I clinical trials.
