The Ottawa Senators signed forward Claude Giroux to a one-year contract worth $5 million. The agreement places $2 million against the salary cap, with the remaining $3 million paid as performance bonuses. Giroux missed one regular-season game across four seasons in Ottawa.
He posted a career-high 35 goals in 2022-23 and followed with 21 goals the next year. Last season he recorded 14 goals and 49 points while the Senators returned to the Eastern Conference playoffs. Giroux averaged 19 minutes and 17 seconds of ice time per game over his career.
He enters the upcoming season needing 21 goals to reach 400 for his NHL career. The upcoming season marks his 20th in the league. The Flyers selected Giroux 22nd overall in the 2006 NHL Draft.
