General manager Steve Staios said Spence proved to be a valuable asset on the blue line.
"Jordan was an excellent addition to our hockey club and proved to be a valuable asset on our blue line and stepped up when it counted last season," Staios stated. " Spence joined the Senators in a June 2025 trade from the Los Angeles Kings. He made his NHL debut with the Kings in the 2021-22 season and recorded 61 points in 180 games with that club.
The Senators also acquired goaltender Samuel Ersson from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round pick. 870 save percentage in the 2025-26 season while with the Philadelphia Flyers. In a separate deal, the Senators acquired forward Andre Burakovsky from the Chicago Blackhawks for a 2027 sixth-round pick.
Burakovsky, 31, recorded 11 goals and 33 points last season. He has played 771 NHL games and won the Stanley Cup in 2019 with the Washington Capitals.
