forbes.comOura released a software update on May 6, 2026, that adds Hormonal Birth Control Support, improved Cycle Insights and the Menopause Impact Scale. The update began rolling out on Wednesday, May 6th for Oura members with Generation 4 and Generation 3 devices. Oura's Cycle Insights algorithm has been updated to track use of hormonal birth control methods.
Users can track over 20 contraceptive combinations including pills, patches, IUDs and implants. The app allows tracking of symptoms like bleeding to establish patterns over time. Oura previously required 60 days of continuous tracking to begin predicting a woman's cycle.
Oura can now predict the next cycle start after a single night of tracking if the user knows when their last cycle began. The cycle prediction update produced a 28% improvement in accuracy for typical cycles and a 21% improvement in accuracy for irregular cycles. Ovulation detection accuracy improved by 45% overall for those with regular cycles.
Oura refined its reproductive health features using aggregated, anonymized data collected from its users. Oura published the Perimenopause Report in 2024.
The Menopause Impact Scale takes into account 22 symptoms and tracks their severity of impact. The new feature combines personal symptom tracking with data-driven insight on the user's physiological trends, letting them see how their symptoms are impacting things like HRV and sleep disturbances.
Oura announced a partnership with Twentyeight Health. The partnership connects Oura members with licensed providers who can help find suitable birth control and provide prescriptions when needed. The update was released on May 6, 2026.
Com reported that the features strengthen Oura's position in women's health tracking. Oura Ring 4 has a new charging case. Oura Ring is available in colors including Gold, Brushed Silver, Stealth, Rose Gold, Black and Silver.
Members who have not yet received the update may need to charge their ring to begin the rollout. The article was published on May 08, 2026 at 10:53am EDT by Anthony Karcz.
