The outfielder will miss the remainder of the season after sustaining a right-shoulder injury. Team officials said Thursday that he is scheduled for latissimus dorsi repair surgery on Wednesday. The same statement estimated recovery time at six to eight months, positioning the player to return for the 2027 season.
The outfielder joined the club on a one-year, $10 million contract signed in December after six seasons with another organization.
Injury details The 33-year-old was batting .195 with seven home runs and 21 RBIs in 67 games. He exited a June 10 contest after consecutive throws to the plate on sacrifice flies.
Roster moves In separate roster transactions Thursday, the team recalled a right-handed pitcher and selected the contract of another right-hander from Triple-A. A left-handed pitcher was optioned to the same affiliate.
