Oversight Project Releases Plan to Limit Birthright Citizenship Effects

The Oversight Project released a plan to limit the effects of birthright citizenship following the Supreme Court's 6-3 ruling that affirmed the practice under federal law. The plan, titled "Keeping Families Together Plan," was shared with Fox News Digital.

It focuses on increasing deportations of parents of U.S.-born children, placing immigration enforcement at hospitals, and cracking down on birth tourism. Mike Howell, president of the Oversight Project, said the ruling creates a "multiplying effect" that requires stronger enforcement measures.

He called for targeting workplaces and areas with high concentrations of legal immigration.

Howell proposed deporting parents of U.S.-born children, noting that in many cases the children would leave with the parents. He also suggested positioning immigration officers at hospitals to deter births by foreign nationals in the United States. The plan targets birth tourism, with Howell identifying China as the largest source.

He called for suspending visas from countries that facilitate the practice.

A White House spokesperson said President Trump remains committed to protecting the value of natural-born citizenship. The spokesperson stated the administration will double down on border security and deportations while directing Congress to address the issue.

The spokesperson reported that more than 3 million people have left the United States and over 948,000 have been deported since the start of the current administration.
