PAGASA Lifts Signal No. 1 for Tropical Depression Henry Moving West

Rappler reported that the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration lifted Signal No. 1 for Tropical Depression Henry on the morning of July 1, 2026. The agency had placed parts of Zambales, Bataan, and Lubang Islands under the warning earlier.
Henry formed at 2 am on July 1 after crossing land as a low pressure area. At 10 am it was located 240 kilometers west southwest of Abucay, Bataan, and was moving west at 25 km/h with maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h and gusts to 55 km/h. PAGASA said Henry could exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by the evening of July 1 or early on July 2.
Outside the area the system may strengthen into a tropical storm by the evening of July 2. Although the signal was lifted, outer bands and the southwest monsoon are forecast to produce strong to gale-force gusts on July 1 in Batanes, Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, and Mimaropa.
Similar gusts are expected on July 2 and July 3 in a smaller set of those provinces.
Scattered rain and thunderstorms remain possible within 24 hours in Mimaropa, Zambales, Bataan, Cagayan, Isabela, Batangas, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, and Tawi-Tawi. Waves up to 2.5 meters high are forecast on July 1 along the seaboards of Babuyan Islands and Zambales and the northern seaboards of Cagayan and Ilocos Norte.
Small vessels were advised to take precautions or avoid sailing.
Henry is the Philippines' eighth tropical cyclone of 2026 and the first in July. PAGASA estimates nine to 13 cyclones could form within or enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility from July to December 2026.
