Pakistan seeks replacement LNG cargo after Hormuz shipments disrupted

Pakistan issued an emergency tender for a replacement liquefied natural gas cargo scheduled for delivery on July 15-16 after a long-term shipment from Qatar was cancelled, Bloomberg News reported. State-owned Pakistan LNG Ltd fast-tracked the tender on Wednesday, with commercial offers due on Friday.

The move followed a second day of U.S. military strikes against targets in Iran, which were launched in retaliation for recent Iranian attacks on commercial vessels in the waterway.

Regional military developments Iran's military said it carried out drone strikes targeting U.S. bases and strategic centres in Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar. The strikes targeted a Patriot missile system in Kuwait, an early warning satellite antenna site in Qatar, and fuel tanks belonging to the U.S. military in Bahrain.

Iran's Ministry of Health said U.S. attacks over the past two days killed 14 people and wounded 78 others across five provinces. A health ministry spokesman said 47 of the wounded remain hospitalised. Bahrain's army said its air defence systems intercepted and destroyed a number of Iranian aerial attacks in the early morning hours.

Diplomatic responses Qatar's prime minister condemned attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz during a phone call with Iran's foreign minister. The Qatari statement emphasised the need for dialogue and diplomacy and reiterated support for containing the escalation.

Iranian state television reported that the burial ceremony for Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, originally scheduled in Mashhad, has been delayed until 14:30 local time due to larger than expected crowds in Iraq's Najaf and Karbala. An Israeli minister rejected U.S. President Trump's assertion that Israeli troops will withdraw from Lebanon, stating that forces will remain in the security zone until Hezbollah is disarmed.
