Palm Beach International Airport Renamed After President Trump at Estimated $5.5 Million Cost
The name change took effect July 9, 2026, with the FAA identifier shifting to DJT. The IATA code used by passengers remains PBI until August 18.

Palm Beach International Airport became President Donald J. Trump International Airport on July 9, 2026. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed legislation authorizing the change in March, and the Federal Aviation Administration set the effective date.
The FAA locational identifier and ICAO code shifted to DJT the same day for pilots and air traffic control. The IATA three-letter code used by passengers and reservation systems will remain PBI until August 18, 2026. Delta, United, American Airlines, JetBlue and Southwest requested the IATA code change, which the association approved.
Airlines have hard-coded their reservations, passenger-service and baggage systems to route PBI searches to the renamed airport, industry analyst Henry Harteveldt said. Palm Beach County commissioners approved a licensing agreement in May allowing use of "Donald J. Trump" in the airport name.
Under the agreement President Trump receives no royalties, fees or merchandise revenue. The airport's website instructs passengers to continue using the PBI code until August 18. Flight attendants have been given discretion to greet passengers with "welcome to West Palm Beach" rather than the new name.
Nearly eight million passengers fly through the airport annually. There are 12 airports across the United States named after presidents.
