Palm Beach International Airport Renamed After President Trump Following 4-3 County Vote
The South Florida airport adopted its new name on Thursday after the FAA updated its identifier to DJT at 5:01 a.m. ET. A Boeing 757 owned by the Trump Organization became the first aircraft to land under the revised designation.

Palm Beach International Airport in South Florida officially changed its name to President Donald J. Trump International Airport on Thursday. The Federal Aviation Administration altered the airport's three-letter identifier from PBI to DJT at 5:01 a.m.
ET and notified all airports and pilots overnight. Trump Force One, a Boeing 757 owned by the Trump Organization, landed first under the new name shortly after 5 a.m. with Eric Trump aboard. The Florida legislature passed the renaming bill along party lines in February.
Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis signed the measure into law in March. The Palm Beach County board of commissioners approved a 35-page licensing agreement by a 4-3 vote in early May. The agreement grants the county perpetual, unrestricted use of the name for signage and merchandise while prohibiting the president and his family from receiving royalties, fees, or revenue from sales by the county or airport retailers.
Changing the airport’s name is expected to cost as much as $5.5 million for new signs, branding and other updates. The airport code will remain PBI for passenger bookings and baggage handling until August 18. Signage, branding, and public-facing materials will be updated in phases.
Eric Trump stated there is no person who has done more for Florida and the country and no one more deserving of this honor. Keegan Collett, a departing passenger, said he was surprised to see the new name and does not think Trump deserves to have an airport named after him. Senators Marsha Blackburn and Bill Hagerty, and Representative Tim Burchett attended a ceremony to rename the I-40 Bridge to the Donald J. Trump Bridge. Bessent said ahead of the ceremony that no one is more deserving of the honor of a bridge renaming than Trump.
Trump received 82 percent of the vote in Jefferson County, where Dandridge is located, in the 2024 general election.
