Panthers wide receiver Jalen Coker signs three-year, $34 million extension

Panthers wide receiver Jalen Coker signed a three-year contract extension worth $34 million two years after joining the team as an undrafted free agent out of Holy Cross. Coker altered his diet and followed recovery plans more closely to reduce soft-tissue injuries. “Not fun, but it has to happen,” Coker said.
Coker stated he wants to remain in Carolina long term. “This wasn’t the end of my story,” he said. ” Buccaneers running back Kenneth Gainwell said the team’s offense suits his style as a smaller, shifty back.
“That style of offense is built for guys that can get to the perimeter, fast guys and I think me and Bucky and Sean [Tucker] have that ability to get around the edges and see those cutback lanes and make it happen,” Gainwell said. Saints defensive end Chase Young recorded a career-high 10 sacks last season despite missing the first five games.
Head coach Kellen Moore noted Young’s growth in the system over the past year and a half and praised his offseason work ethic.
Defensive coordinator Brandon Staley said he has tracked Young’s progress since his early career and observed further improvement after the 2024 season with the 49ers. Young was selected second overall in the NFL Draft and named Defensive Rookie of the Year.
