Video surveillance showed a suspect leaving a bag or package in the lobby before fleeing toward Beausoleil, France, The Guardian reported.
Monaco police have launched a manhunt for the suspected attacker. About 50 firefighters and 80 security personnel responded to the scene, with a helicopter deployed overhead. Police cordoned off the area, and the three injured individuals were taken to hospital in Nice, France.
Monaco’s minister of state, Christophe Mirmand, stated it was the first such act in the principality’s history. Public prosecutor Stephane Thibault stated there was no indication yet why the building was targeted. Intelligence services are examining the victims’ backgrounds to determine if others face specific threats, Mirmand added.
Yermolaiev has been subject to sanctions from Kyiv since December 2023 over his alcohol business activity in Russian-occupied Crimea, The Guardian reported. The public prosecutor is scheduled to give another news briefing on Tuesday.
