Parents are receiving frequent notifications from separate apps used by schools and sports clubs for their children. One parent said they received a message titled “Unexplained student absence” about a child they had already dropped off at school that morning.
The message turned out to be a generic reminder to explain absences. The same parent reported using four school-specific apps, six groups in one sports app, and three additional apps for wider sporting associations.
Notifications often arrive in batches.

Parents noted that some apps allow only one login email, which can create friction for separated households. In two-parent households, one parent often ends up managing most of the information. A friend described receiving multiple notifications from a mindfulness app within an hour, including reminders to take a break and to complete a daily check-in.
The same week, a primary school posted a news item on its Compass app about a missing shoe, including a photo of the item. A high school platform posted a notice about a found retainer and its location. The author asked whether the shoe or retainer was later returned to its owner.
