Party audit committee members resigned after being blocked from reviewing finances

Three members of a political party's finance and audit committee resigned in 2021 after stating they were blocked from reviewing the organization's accounts. Cynthia Guthrie and Allison Graham said they and a third member, Frank Ross, received insufficient data and faced delays when requesting information.

" The former chief executive admitted embezzling more than £400,000 from the party between 2010 and 2022 and was sentenced to five years and three months in prison earlier this week. The party leader at the time has denied knowledge of the embezzlement.

Police questioned the leader as part of an investigation but brought no charges. The current party leader has said no further inquiry will be held.
