Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes appears in his fifth annual Coors Light ad, which launches July 15. Two-time Emmy winner Eric Stonestreet plays Mahomes in the spot due to NFL rules on alcohol endorsements.
ForbesKansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes stars in a new Coors Light commercial that launches July 15 across the brand’s social and digital channels. The spot marks Mahomes’ fifth annual collaboration with the beer company. The NFL bars active players from endorsing alcoholic beverages, so the campaign uses a workaround.
Two-time Emmy winner Eric Stonestreet, a Kansas City native and Chiefs superfan, portrays Mahomes. In the ad, Stonestreet removes Coors Light from a refrigerator and ices his arms and legs after a workout while the real Mahomes watches from a director’s chair. “He’s one of those people who can make anything funny,” Mahomes said in a press release.
Mahomes called the project one of his favorites. “Working with Eric on this year’s Coors Light campaign was easily one of my favorites to date,” he said. Limited-edition autographed posters showing Mahomes and Stonestreet in matching outfits go on sale July 16 for $150 each through Coors’ website.
Proceeds benefit Mahomes’ 15 and the Mahomies Foundation. Mahomes signed an eight-year, $504.75 million contract extension in June. Forbes reported that he also endorses Hublot, Adidas, State Farm, T-Mobile, Oakley, CommunityAmerica Credit Union, Whoop, Throne SPORT COFFEE, Meta, Invisalign, Panini and Airbnb.
“It’s got to be something that’s true to me and that I truly care about,” Mahomes said of his endorsement choices.
