The cast danced to the song. McCartney also appeared in the opening sketch with host Will Ferrell and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith. He later joined a sketch titled "What it feels like talking to a mechanic" with Ferrell, Marcello Hernández, Mikey Day and Ashley Padilla.
The last time McCartney performed as musical guest on a regular season episode of SNL was December 2012. He closed the show's 50th anniversary special last year with an "Abbey Road" medley. In an interview with Rolling Stone earlier this year, McCartney said the new album reflects memories of growing up in Liverpool.
