PC manufacturers have begun releasing details on laptops that use Intel's Core Series 3 processors, codenamed Wildcat Lake. The chips are built on Intel's 18A process and are intended to compete with the processor in Apple's MacBook Neo. Lenovo plans to offer IdeaPad Slim models that can include 16 GB of RAM and a 120 Hz display.

Asus and HP have also announced initial systems using the new processors.

U.S. release dates. Lenovo's Lecoo Air 14 will be the first laptop to use reference designs from Intel's Project Firefly initiative, which aims to lower development costs for PC makers. Chinese manufacturer Chuwi has stated that its UniBook model will carry a Core 3 304 processor, a 14-inch 1200p display, 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage, and additional ports for an advertised price of $449.

Intel previously supported thin-and-light laptop designs through its Ultrabook program in the early 2010s. S. market. Further announcements are expected at the Computex trade show in early June.
