Pennsylvania governor criticizes left wing of Democratic Party

The governor of Pennsylvania said the Democratic Party needs to settle internal differences before it can effectively challenge Republicans. He made the comments during a CNN interview while touring Philadelphia sites tied to the country's founding. The governor described himself as a proud, patriotic American who believes the United States is the greatest country on Earth.

He added that the country still must address healthcare access and economic challenges. He criticized what he called performative politics that draws media attention but does not improve people's lives. The governor said both extremes of the political spectrum engage in such tactics.

When asked about a Democratic Socialists of America member who won a Democratic nomination, the governor said he has profound differences with that candidate. He noted the candidate's district chose her as its representative. The governor said Democrats must determine what they believe and emerge unified to deliver results for voters.
