Pennsylvania Poll Shows Rise in Voters Reporting Worse Finances Than a Year Ago

A new Quinnipiac University poll found that 44 percent of Pennsylvania voters described their financial situation as worse than a year ago, an increase from 36 percent recorded in the same poll in February. Thirty-six percent of respondents said their finances were better than a year earlier, while 19 percent said their situation was the same and 1 percent gave no response or were unsure.

The poll surveyed 895 self-identified registered voters between July 9 and July 13 and carries a margin of sampling error of 4.3 percentage points.

Pennsylvania voters will cast ballots in November midterms that will decide control of the U.S. House, where Republicans currently hold 218 seats, Democrats hold 212 seats, and one seat is held by an independent. The same poll found 49 percent of respondents want Democrats to take control of the House, 43 percent want Republicans to retain their majority, and 8 percent were unsure or gave no response.
