Pentagon Posts Kid Rock Memorial Day Video on Social Media
The Department of Defense shared a brief Memorial Day message recorded by musician Kid Rock on its rapid-response account Monday. President Trump, Vice President Vance and Defense Secretary Hegseth led separate observances at Arlington National Cemetery.
The IndependentThe Department of Defense posted a short Memorial Day video featuring musician Kid Rock on its rapid-response social media account Monday morning. Kid Rock, wearing sunglasses, a black hoodie and a chain, recorded the message from a Pentagon lectern. In the clip he said the day honors “the sacrifice and service of so many who are not with us today” and closed with a salute.
Trump, Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth led the official Memorial Day services at Arlington National Cemetery the same morning.
Hegseth previously posted photos of Kid Rock riding in an Army AH-64 Apache helicopter last month. Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell stated the flights were part of a community-relations event tied to the Freedom 250 initiative. Parnell also noted Kid Rock had participated in multiple troop visits and filmed additional videos for Memorial Day and the 250th anniversary commemoration.
Some social-media users questioned the choice of Kid Rock to deliver the message, while others defended the post.
