New York PostThe Pentagon released 222 declassified files on unidentified anomalous phenomena on Friday. The files include audio from a 1969 post-mission medical debrief in which Apollo 12 astronauts Pete Conrad, Richard Gordon and Alan Bean described seeing streaks of light while trying to sleep in space.
A description on the Defense Department’s UFO site states that the astronauts each reported these experiences occurred in the dark. NASA’s medical team later concluded that the flashes were caused by the astronauts’ own vision rather than external light sources.
One file contains 116 pages of documentation on alleged sightings near a top secret facility in Sandia, New Mexico, between 1948 and 1950. The Defense Department noted that the file includes 209 reports of green orbs, discs and fireballs near the military base.
More than 50 previously classified videos were released, including encounters with military aircraft. One video showed four unidentified aerial phenomena forming over water in Iran in August 2022. S. military infrared sensor, according to the Department of War.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the documents have long fueled speculation and stated that it is time the American people see them for themselves. The Department of War said it is working on a third release of files that will be made public in the near future.
