The Defense Department released a second batch of declassified documents on unidentified anomalous phenomena on May 22, 2026. The files contain military video, audio, and written reports spanning from the 1940s through six months prior to the release.

One account describes a senior intelligence officer on a helicopter mission who reported an orange orb that split in two and changed direction. The officer wrote that the object approached within ten feet of the helicopter before speeding away.

The released materials include seven NASA files and one CIA document. Footage shows spherical, oblong, and cigar-shaped objects recorded over land, lakes, and seas in locations including the central United States, Kabul, Syria, Kazakhstan, and Europe.

Audio recordings feature NASA pilots from the 1960s and 1970s, including the Apollo 12 crew, describing unusual observations during space missions. A 1962 recording captures astronaut Scott Carpenter reporting particles that appeared to move randomly outside his spacecraft.

The government redacted portions of the files to protect witnesses, locations, and sensitive information. A disclaimer states that readers should not interpret the documents as reflecting analytical judgments or factual determinations about the events described.

The documents do not include conclusions about the origins of the observed objects or any evidence of communication with extraterrestrial entities.
