The Pentagon released an updated list Monday naming 188 Chinese companies it says support the country's military while operating directly or indirectly in the United States. New additions include Alibaba, search provider Baidu, automaker BYD, biotech firm WuXi AppTec, robotics company RoboSense Technology, and robot maker Unitree.

The list also restored memory chip manufacturers Yangtze Memory Technologies and ChangXin Memory Technologies, which appeared on the 2025 version but were absent from a February draft.

Background on the List The document is required each year under Section 1260H of the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal 2021. Deputy War Secretary Steve Feinberg determined the companies meet the statutory definition of entities that provide commercial services, manufacturing, or exports to China's military.

The designation prevents the War Department from awarding contracts to listed firms and signals risk to other potential partners. It does not impose formal sanctions. Representatives from Alibaba and Baidu disputed their inclusion on an earlier version released in February that was later withdrawn.

Companies on the list may contest their designation. The updated list supersedes last year's version and follows President Donald Trump's visit to Beijing last month.
