Peter Thiel has purchased a home in one of Buenos Aires’ wealthiest neighborhoods and enrolled his children in local schools, The New York Times reported on May 28, 2026. The PayPal and Palantir cofounder met Argentina’s President Javier Milei in the capital on April 23, 2026. Business Insider reported that Thiel’s representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The developments align with a broader pattern among high-net-worth individuals. Henley & Partners data showed a record 142,000 people with over $1 million in liquid assets migrated to new countries last year, with the figure projected to exceed 165,000 this year.

Charlie Garcia, founder of the centimillionaire membership club R360, said there is a clear trend toward sovereign diversification that includes multiple passports, multiple tax regimes, and at least one “Plan B” jurisdiction in the Southern Hemisphere.
