Phil Collins Declines to Perform at 2026 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction
Phil Collins told BBC Breakfast he turned down an invitation to perform at his 2026 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. He cited the need for rehearsal and vocal preparation, while noting he is healthier than he has been in recent years.
forbes.comPhil Collins said he declined an invitation to perform at the 2026 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony because he did not feel physically prepared. During a Friday interview on BBC Breakfast, Collins stated that performing would require rehearsal and consistent singing practice, which he has not maintained.
He added that he would rather not appear if his voice was not ready. Collins has already been inducted once as a member of Genesis in 2010. His second induction places him among a small group of two-time honorees.
Collins reported that he is healthier now than he has been for quite a while. He said he lives with a 24-hour nurse to manage medication and described multiple past medical events, including five knee operations, a spinal injury from 2007, and kidney complications linked to earlier alcohol use.
He also said he contracted COVID while hospitalized and experienced several overlapping health problems during that period. Collins stated he is now sober.
When asked about returning to the stage, Collins replied that he cannot see it happening at present. He added that he would contemplate another live performance in the future and has considered returning to his home studio.
