Phil Mickelson Resigned From The Farms Country Club After Allegations and Club Investigation

Phil Mickelson resigned from The Farms Country Club near San Diego after club management investigated allegations that he made nonconsensual physical contact with a female employee. Tom Clare, a defamation lawyer hired by Mickelson, stated that the golfer resigned from the club.

Golf Digest reported last week that Mickelson was no longer a member and that management asked him to leave the course during his round.

The Farms Golf Club issued a statement saying it provided immediate support to the staff member, conducted a thorough independent investigation, and took decisive action. The statement added that the individual is no longer a member and that the club is unable to speak further to protect the safety and privacy of its staff and member.

Golf Digest cited sources reporting that Mickelson, age 55, approached the woman in the clubhouse and made nonconsensual and inappropriate physical contact.

The employee rejected the advances, reported the incident to supervisors, and club management confronted Mickelson on the course before telling him to leave the premises. A spokesperson for Mickelson issued a statement saying any misunderstanding has been cleared up.

The statement added that Mickelson continues to attend to a family health matter and is uncertain when he will be able to return to professional golf.
