Prosecutors refuted reports that the defense gained an advantage during the conference. Lead trial prosecutor Jinky Luistro said the claim that the team was outgunned was false.
"That is not true. I charge it as 'fake news,' and people should become very cautious now in watching it on social media," she said on Monday, June 22. Newly appointed prosecution legal spokesperson Benjamin Tolosa said it was factually impossible for the defense to gain an upper hand because the clerk of the impeachment court cannot make rulings.
Tolosa added that the prosecution achieved its goal of ensuring the trial would proceed in an expeditious manner.
