Philippine Senate, House, and National Bureau of Investigation Websites Defaced in Three Days
Hackers posted anti-corruption messages on the NBI, Senate and House websites. The incidents occurred between 13 and 14 June 2026.
abcnews.go.comThe National Bureau of Investigation’s website was defaced over the weekend preceding 15 June 2026, becoming the third major Philippine state body compromised in less than a week. The Senate’s website was attacked on Wednesday preceding 15 June 2026. The House of Representatives’ website was attacked on Saturday preceding 15 June 2026.
In each incident, intruders posted messages denouncing government corruption. The NBI defacement was attributed on the page to an entity calling itself #HappyGoLuckyPh. The message posted on the NBI website read: “the people should not be afraid of their government, government should be afraid of its people”.
Jonathan Ravelas, managing director of eManagement for Business and Marketing Services and a retired chief market strategist of BDO, the Philippines’ largest bank, said the motives behind the hacks are beside the point. “Investors don’t price intentions, they price risk,” he said. “What matters is that unauthorised access exposes gaps in cybersecurity and governance,” Ravelas said.
