Philippines and Vietnam elevate bilateral ties to Enhanced Strategic Partnership

Manila and Hanoi announced the elevation of bilateral relations to an Enhanced Strategic Partnership on June 1 during Vietnamese President To Lam’s state visit to the Philippines. The designation is the first of its kind for both countries. Vietnam is now the Philippines’ only strategic partner or enhanced strategic partner in Southeast Asia.
