Pitcher Seeks Motivation After Team's Playoff Exit

A pitcher said he wants his teammates to carry extra motivation into an upcoming series after last season's playoff exit. The pitcher is scheduled to start the third game of a four-game set. He stated that the previous postseason outcome left him with a sense of frustration.

"I definitely feel it," the pitcher said on a radio program this week. He added that he believes the opposing team was not necessarily stronger but performed better in key moments. The pitcher noted that the experience provides lessons and creates an added drive to reach the highest level of performance. He described the coming series as an early test of that mindset.

The pitcher started and took the loss in the final game of last season's division series, allowing four runs over six and one-third innings. The team scored only two runs in that contest. Earlier in his career, the pitcher posted a 4-3 record with a 2.96 ERA in 14 starts after being called up in July.

He followed that with eight scoreless innings in a wild-card series. This season the pitcher holds a 6-1 record and a 1.35 ERA through his first 10 starts. He has recorded wins against two different opponents in recent outings. The pitcher said the team maintains a strong internal bond and a winning culture despite occasional road-trip setbacks.

He noted that losing at least 50 games in a season is typical in the sport.
