Pizza Hut Franchise Operator Restores Retro Design at Over 80 Locations
A Kansas-based operator of nearly 100 Pizza Hut restaurants is restoring red checkered tablecloths, vinyl booths, and other original features at more than 80 sites. The changes revive elements such as the salad bar, red plastic cups, and Pac-Man machines.
nypost.comA Kansas-based franchise operator is restoring original design elements at more than 80 Pizza Hut locations across the United States. Tim Sparks, president of Daland Corporation, said the company operates almost 100 Pizza Hut restaurants and is redecorating over 80 of them to match the chain's earlier appearance.
The updates include red roofs, red checkered tablecloths, vinyl booths, and Tiffany-style lamps.
The restored locations will also bring back the salad bar, red plastic cups, and Pac-Man machines. Daland Corporation is additionally reviving the BOOK IT! Summer of Stories program, which rewards children with a Personal Pan pizza for reading during summer break.
Pizza Hut was founded in 1958 in Wichita, Kansas. In recent years the chain modernized many restaurants, a shift some customers said reduced the original atmosphere.
2026 the chain announced the closure of 250 underperforming locations. Some customers responding on social media expressed support for the return of older design features and requested the original pizza recipes. "I am so excited and when they are restored I will be eating there as a new tradition every Friday," one X user wrote.
Another commenter said the original pan pizza recipe should return because a recent order did not match earlier versions.
