Player exits game after fifth inning with apparent injury

A player left after the fifth inning with an apparent injury during a game in which the team was being shut out. The player lifted a fly ball to deep right field in the bottom of the fifth and hobbled to first base. After the ball was caught, the player walked slowly to and through the dugout.

The player briefly spoke with the manager, who motioned for a replacement at third base, shifting another player to second base. There was no immediate update on the player's status. It was unclear when the apparent injury occurred.

Earlier in the game, the player won a nine-pitch at-bat and recorded a single into right field but was picked off first base after adjusting a sliding glove.
