PlayStation State of Play highlights single-player games
Sony's June 2026 State of Play presentation opened with Marvel's Wolverine and closed with God of War Laufey. The hour-long show featured several third-party single-player titles scheduled for release over the next year.
The VergePlayStation opened its June 2026 State of Play with more than seven minutes of gameplay footage from Marvel's Wolverine. The footage showed the title character fighting through enemies and briefly teaming with Jean Grey. Insomniac Games is developing the game, which is scheduled to launch in September.
The presentation closed with a 23-minute trailer for God of War Laufey. The game stars Faye, Kratos' wife, and includes combat sequences, exploration, and companion characters. Santa Monica Studio is developing the title.
Third-party titles shown Several third-party single-player games appeared between the two first-party segments. Remedy Entertainment's Control Resonant is set for release on September 24, Konami's Silent Hill: Townfall follows the same day, and Capcom's Onimusha: Way of the Sword launches September 25.
Crystal Dynamics' Tomb Raider reboot is planned for February, and Until Dawn 2 is scheduled for release sometime next year.
Live-service coverage limited The presentation included one update on Bungie's Marathon extraction shooter but did not show new footage for Fairgames or any other unannounced live-service projects. The Verge reported that Sony has experienced multiple live-service setbacks, including the shutdown of Concord and the cancellation of a planned The Last of Us multiplayer game.
The company has not announced release dates for God of War Laufey, remakes of the original God of War trilogy, or Naughty Dog's Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
