Polish authorities detained three Polish citizens on suspicion of spying for Russia, the Internal Security Agency announced Wednesday. The men, aged 48 to 62, were arrested on May 12 and ordered held for three months by a court. Officers said the suspects were commissioned by a Russian citizen linked to the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation.
The detainees face additional charges of preparing sabotage and subversion, promoting symbols supporting Russia's actions in Ukraine, and publicly praising the conflict. They also gathered information on the location of NATO troops in Poland. Tomasz Siemoniak, Poland's Special Services Minister, stated on social media that the Internal Security Agency had detained the three men for espionage activities on behalf of Russia.
The Russian Embassy in Poland has not responded to requests for comment. Poland is one of several European countries that have arrested individuals suspected of espionage or sabotage linked to Russia.
