Police Evacuate Residents From Homes on Stanstead Road in Catford
Emergency services responded to an incident on Stanstead Road in south London after 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Residents within an inner cordon were moved to a nearby center and remained out of their homes for about 11 hours.
The IndependentM. on Wednesday and established cordons that closed the road from Cranston Road to the Blythe Hill Tavern pub. An inner cordon was set up and armed officers were present at the scene, according to a local resident who spoke to The Independent.
Residents living inside the inner cordon were directed from their homes shortly after officers arrived. ” “Everybody was evacuated. We were all just out on the street,” the same resident said. Those removed from the flats were taken to the nearby Ladywell Centre and had been away from their homes for 11 hours at the time of the report.
The nature of the incident remains unknown. The Metropolitan Police has been contacted for comment.
