Police are investigating an attack on Ann Widdecombe that occurred on July 8 in the West of England. Assistant Commissioner Laurence Taylor, head of counter terrorism policing, described the incident as targeted. Widdecombe, a former Conservative minister who now serves as a Reform UK spokeswoman, recorded a radio interview about 20 minutes before the attack.

She spoke for roughly nine minutes via video link with British Christian radio station TWR-UK.
The interview was not broadcast by TWR-UK.
The station later shared a portion of the recording with Times Radio, which aired the segment on Tuesday. In the interview, Widdecombe discussed her support for Reform UK leader Nigel Farage.
Police believe the attack took place shortly after the interview concluded.
