Police recover body of 15-year-old boy from Lincoln lake

Emergency services were called to Swanholme Lakes in Lincoln at about 14:30 BST on Sunday after reports that a 15-year-old boy had entered the water and was in difficulty. Lincolnshire Police conducted a search and recovered a body. The force later confirmed the deceased was Declan Sawyer.
Priory City of Lincoln Academy, the boy's school, issued a statement describing the loss as devastating for the learning community and stating that staff and students would miss his presence. The statement added that the academy would support students experiencing a range of emotions in the days ahead.
A police spokesperson said the incident would likely affect Declan's friends and the local community.
Swanholme Lakes is a nature reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest located about three miles from Lincoln city centre. On Sunday the temperature in Lincoln reached about 25C, according to the Met Office.
