Police Seek Witnesses After Assault on Taxi Driver in Belfast

The taxi driver, who is in his 30s, was spat at and struck by one of the men. He fell to the ground and lost consciousness. As he stood up, a second man struck him again. The three people then left on foot toward the city centre.
Service of Northern Ireland described the incident as an unprovoked attack being investigated as a racially motivated hate crime. "There is no place for hate, racism or violence in our communities, and everyone has the right to feel safe and treated with dignity and respect," the officer said.
The officer noted the area was busy on a Saturday evening and asked anyone who witnessed the assault to contact police. The woman is described as wearing a black dress. Both men are described as having a muscular build, with one wearing a white shirt and the other a red T-shirt.
