Poll Finds 56% of U.S. Voters View AI Favorably

A national poll found that 56% of U.S. voters hold a favorable view of artificial intelligence, while 36% hold an unfavorable view. Seventy-two percent of respondents said AI could reduce time spent on repetitive tasks. Seventy-one percent said they viewed AI as the start of a new industrial revolution.

Sixty-one percent agreed that AI could help cure diseases, discover new medicines, and accelerate science. Sixty-four percent said AI would make the United States more competitive against China. Sixty percent said AI could help reindustrialize the country and increase domestic production.

Fifty-three percent said the United States should move quickly to build AI despite risks because foreign nations are pursuing it, while 47% disagreed. The poll was conducted by HarrisX and commissioned by Build American AI, a nonprofit advocacy group. Interviews took place with 2011 registered voters across the country in July 2026.
