The figure includes 3 percent who said they were absolutely certain they would not repeat the vote and 17 percent who said they probably would not. The survey reported a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percentage points. It was carried out by BSP Research and Shaw & Co.

The same poll showed 54 percent of Texas Latino respondents would support a Democratic candidate for the U.S. House if the election were held now, while 28 percent would back a Republican. Among respondents who voted for then-Vice President Kamala Harris, 6 percent said they would not repeat that choice.

Sixty-nine percent of all Latino respondents said the country is heading in the wrong direction, and 67 percent disapproved of the president's job performance. Fifty-one percent said they believe the president's policies will leave them worse off next year.

When asked which issues most affected their views of the president, 46 percent cited the cost of living and inflation, 36 percent named immigration enforcement, and 25 percent pointed to jobs, wages, and the economy. Eighty percent of respondents supported legalization for long-term immigrants living in the country without legal status.

Sixty-seven percent said they do not believe the president and congressional Republicans are focusing enough on improving the economy.

Texas will hold races for governor, attorney general, and all U.S. House seats in November, along with a U.S. Senate seat. The poll found 51 percent of Latino voters would support Democratic candidate James Talarico for Senate compared with 24 percent for Republican state Attorney General Ken Paxton, with 25 percent undecided.

The survey was conducted before the Republican primary runoff. In the governor's race, 53 percent backed Democratic candidate Gina Hinojosa, 26 percent supported incumbent Greg Abbott, and 21 percent were undecided. National surveys conducted in early May recorded lower approval ratings for the president among Hispanic voters.

An Atlas Intel poll showed 37 percent approval and 63 percent disapproval. A CNN poll showed 23 percent approval and 77 percent disapproval.
