Poll shows split among Republicans on U.S.-Iran agreement
A CBS poll conducted June 17-19 found that 47 percent of self-identified MAGA supporters viewed the recent U.S.-Iran agreement as better for the United States, while 39 percent of all Republicans held that view. Among all Americans surveyed, 36 percent approved of the administration's handling of the Iran situation.

A CBS/YouGov poll conducted June 17-19 found divided opinions among Republican voters about the U.S.-Iran agreement released last week. Among self-identified MAGA supporters, 47 percent said the deal favors the United States, 12 percent said it favors Iran, and 41 percent called the terms equal for both sides.
Among all Republicans, 39 percent viewed the agreement as better for the United States, 19 percent as better for Iran, and 42 percent as equal. The survey of 2,519 U.S. adults carried a margin of error of plus or minus 2.4 percentage points. Sixty percent of Republicans said the conflict should end, while 40 percent favored continued military pressure to obtain additional concessions from Iran.
One senator stated that "Reagan is rolling over in his grave" over the deal and wrote that Iran's nuclear ambitions were not curbed. Another senator said the agreement is "not remotely in America's interest" and described giving funds to Iran as a bad idea.
A third senator continued to advocate military action if Iran does not cooperate. The agreement allows Iran to resell oil without sanctions and provides access to $300 billion for reconstruction, with administration officials stating that U.S. taxpayers will not fund the payments.
The deal also permits Iran and Oman to define future administration of the Strait of Hormuz.
Public expectations on gas prices The poll found that 42 percent of Americans expect gas prices to decrease, 35 percent expect them to remain the same, and 23 percent expect them to rise. Shipping data showed increased traffic through the Strait of Hormuz after the ceasefire memorandum took effect.
