The survey of 1,603 adults was conducted June 5-8, 2026, and carries a margin of error of 3.6 percent. The same poll recorded an overall presidential approval rating of 35 percent and a disapproval rating of 60 percent.
At the same point in his first term, the president held a net approval rating of +8 percent on the economy, according to the pollster. The current figure represents a 42-point swing from that earlier reading. Approval stood at 36 percent among men and 23 percent among women.
A Harris Poll and HarrisX survey taken May 29-31 showed 39 percent approval on the economy. A Quinnipiac University poll conducted May 14-18 recorded 33 percent approval. A White House spokesperson stated that the administration remains focused on the president's economic agenda despite temporary disruptions tied to foreign policy.
Inflation-specific approval in the new poll stood at 24 percent with 68 percent disapproval.
