Portland Fire Defeat Indiana Fever 100-84

The Portland Fire defeated the Indiana Fever 100-84 on May 30, 2026 at the Moda Center in Portland, Ore. Megan Gustafson scored 22 points, including eight in the first quarter, and the Fire led 29-15 after the opening period. Portland improved to 4-1 in its last five games.

Carla Leite recorded 18 points and 12 assists, while Emily Engstler posted 16 points and 10 rebounds. Both players recorded their first double-doubles with the expansion franchise. Sarah Ashlee Barker hit a three-pointer that extended the lead to 44-26 with four minutes left in the second quarter.

The Fire led 50-37 at halftime and stretched the advantage to 25 points during the third quarter. Barker made another three-pointer at the end of the period that brought the crowd to its feet. Portland led 98-79 in the fourth quarter before coach Alex Sarama sat most starters.

Aliyah Boston led the Fever with 18 points and seven rebounds. Caitlin Clark played 22 minutes, shot 1-for-7 from the field, and finished with six points, two rebounds, and six assists. She committed five fouls and argued with a referee during the game.

The Fever entered the contest after a 90-88 loss to the Golden State Valkyries on Thursday night. Clark had missed the teams’ previous meeting on May 21 in Indianapolis due to a back issue. The Fever disclosed the injury less than two hours before tipoff, and the WNBA issued a warning the next day for the delayed report.

Indiana won that game 90-73 without Clark. The sellout crowd of 19,347 filled the Moda Center for the contest.
